Microchips play an increasingly crucial role of the growth and competitiveness of Finnish companies. Finland has set a goal to triple the industry’s revenue and job creation by 2035, with the EU’s Chip Act as a key enabler of this growth.
In collaboration with our industrial and research partners, we are working towards establishing a chip competence centre in Finland, which will support the development of chips that create a competitive advantage for the needs of different industries. FiCCC has been developed through extensive collaboration as part of the Chips from Tampere program and is set to begin operations in Finland at the beginning of 2025.

The FiCCC project is looking for a Director
to lead the national consortium and collaborating with stakeholders both nationally and at the EU levels. As the director you will be responsible for overseeing all activities FiCCC. This position requires strong personal ownership and offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in maintaining Europe’s competitiveness in the chip industry.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading the national consortium (Tampere, Espoo, Oulu, Photonics Finland) and establish the chip competence centre and developing its operations.
- Managing the overall coordination and administration of the DEP-funded sub-project implementation for Chips JU.
- Coordinating the administrative alignment of BF-funding with EU projects.
- Representing FiCCC in the activities of the EU network of centres of competence, ENCCC.
- Managing stakeholder engagement, particularly with the BF Microelectronics and Photonics Program (campaign), the Chip Industry Group of the Technology Industries of Finland, and the MEF network of universities and research institutions.
- Overseeing policy collaboration for FiCCC with Business Finland, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
- Managing FiCCC's collaboration with academic and industrial stakeholders, including Tampere University, the City of Tampere, and Business Tampere.
- Supporting the provision of competence centre services for companies and research institutions.
As a person you have excellent collaboration and influencing skills with entrepreneur mindset and business acumen. You can engage a large network of stakeholders, and you have great negotiation and management skills. A proactive and hands on attitude to work is a natural way of working for you as well as a service-oriented mindset.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience in coordinating and managing complex projects and the expertise in managing high-level projects, with a focus on delivering cohesive and well-coordinated outcomes.
- Familiarity with the EU regulatory and business landscape
- Understanding of microchip technology and its business applications
- Experience in international business or B2B sales and marketing
- Ability to work in a multinational environment
- Flexibility to travelling as required
Successful completion of the task requires good oral and written English skills. In addition, knowledge of the Finnish language is a considered positive attribute and an advantage.
