Technical Student / Thesis Worker - Water Treatment Technologies

We are now looking for a Technical Student / Thesis Worker to a pilot project within our Water Solutions team
We're dedicated to advancing sustainability through water recycling initiatives. Become part of our joint venture between the Finnish Minerals Group (FMG) and Adven, focusing on a pilot-scale project. Our goal is to recycle sodium sulfate waste solution from battery production, recovering sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid for reuse within the industry.

We are looking for a proactive, safety-oriented student/thesis worker in technology, chemistry, or engineering with a passion for water treatment. Dive into our waste treatment pilot in Kokkola, Finland, contributing to revolutionary sustainability in the battery industry.
The position is temporary, from April to November 2024.
To be successful in this role, we believe you bring the following:
- Safety-first attitude with a good understanding of occupational safety protocols.
- Hands-on attitude and adaptability to the Kokkola (Finland) area are preferred. Previous experience in hands-on is an advantage or willingness to work hands-on when required.
- Previous industry experience, especially in a summer job, is mandatory.
- Capability to collect, label, package, and deliver samples from operational setups, conduct regular small maintenance work, and adjust processes.
- Strong academic background in chemistry, engineering, or related fields.
- Basic understanding of electrochemistry and water treatment processes such as precipitation, ion exchanger, and bipolar membrane electrodialysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multinational project team.
- Familiarity with diagrams (P&ID), process automation basics, and project communication is considered an advantage.
- A valid driving license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s program in fields such as chemistry/ chemical engineering/ or related disciplines.
- Basic understanding of water treatment unit processes.
- Proficiency in English & Finnish (written & spoken).
- Competence in chemical analysis, and reporting.
