Senior QA Engineer (3 positions)

Ritchie Bros, the world’s largest auctioneer of commercial assets and vehicles, is now in a rapid growth phase and on the path to transforming and modernizing their Rbauction website and its technical architecture. Therefore, they are now looking for three Senior QA Engineers to join their forces in Helsinki, and this is where your input and skills will be needed!

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will join the Helsinki-based engineering office of approximately 30 professionals and work in a smaller, dedicated team focusing on one of the Rbauction domains. Your team will consist of a few software engineers and an Engineering Manager, and the team’s main objective is to modernize and build the dedicated product domain and collaborate with US-based project teams.

In this new role, you will be responsible for technical and architectural execution across product Engineering teams within the web experience domains with a deep focus on quality assurance. You collaborate with the QA Lead, engineering and tech leads, designers, product managers, and developers to deliver compelling and efficient products. You will identify and resolve performance and scalability issues, while participating in hands-on QA work. More specifically, your tasks will include the following:

• Building and developing the automated tests for the deployment pipeline
• Providing insights and recommendations for the most relevant testing and automation technologies and tools
• Driving the adoption of designs and assist teams in meeting technical and business goals
• Developing and publishing new technical standards across the organization and driving the adoption of said solutions

The auction software is built with the following technologies and frameworks, but we don’t expect you to have experience with all of them: CircleCI, Helm, Kubernetes (EKS), CodeClimate, Snyk, Github, Spotbugs, Vault, Java Spring Boot, Jacoco, Next.js, Nx, Jest, AWS, Java, OpenSearch, DynamoDB.

We hope you have:

• Relevant degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or equivalent
• A minimum of a few years of professional work experience in QA or test automation positions
• Skills in developing scalable performant solutions with a focus on quality assurance and development of testing strategies and test cases
• Strong communication skills combined with an ability to work in a multicultural team
• Ability to take responsibility and make decisions independently
• Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Practicalities:

In this full-time and permanent position, you will be employed directly by Ritchie Bros. The start time in the role is as soon as possible, latest by the end of 2024. Ritchie Bros has an office in the heart of Helsinki, and we hope you are willing to visit the Helsinki office weekly to meet your team and colleagues. As you will be working with the US-based projects, we hope you have the flexibility to participate in meetings at about 5-6 pm Finnish time when needed. The base salary in this position ranges between 4500-5000 €/month depending on your experience and will be negotiated individually.
