Join our Biomaterials -research group and strongly contribute to multidisciplinary research, development, and innovation activities! We seek an experienced Chief Specialist or Researcher for the Technology Unit of LAB University of Applied Sciences, Lahti or Lappeenranta campus, Finland.

You will collaborate with a wide range of scientists and experts, such as those related to the circular economy, throughout the LAB organisation, creating practical technical and methodological solutions for industries and societies.

Key responsibilities:

- Participating in multidisciplinary research operations
- Consortium building and project preparation for EU-funded calls
- Networking with prominent research partners
- Research and writing of the scientific articles and dissemination of the research results

What do we expect from potential candidates:

- Strong practical and theoretical understanding of utilising industrial gas side streams, syngas, or gasification processes, focusing on the extraction, separation, and repurposing of valuable gas components such as biomethane, hydrogen or CO2 for various applications
- Understanding of gas separation, capturing, and utilisation technologies, with familiarity with methods for Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and gas conversion processes such as carbon dioxide hydrogenation and P2X solutions
- Understanding the value network of gaseous side streams and their utilisation
- Capability to develop and implement innovative solutions using the above methods to support
- Sustainable energy systems, circular economy models, and green technologies
- Good English skills and strong teamwork skills
- Ability to build development projects with stakeholders and apply for funding from various sources
- A doctoral degree in a relevant art, such as physics, chemistry, engineering or environmental sciences, is preferred

The work will start on 1st February 2025; however, the starting date is negotiable. The employment relationship is permanent and full-time, beginning with a six-month trial period. The salary is based on the current general collective agreement for the private teaching sector: for a Researcher, it is between 3800€ and 4800€, and for a Chief Specialist, it is between 5200€ and 6200€, depending on the experience level.
