Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to deep dive into ABBs Marine Pilot Control (MPC) applications. You'll be at the forefront of marine automation, contributing to the delivery of advanced MPC systems for vessels. You'll combine your technical expertise with customer-focused problem-solving to deliver high-quality solutions for global projects. This role is located in Vuosaari, Helsinki.
This position reports to Engineering Manager.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Software development (Python, C++)
- Hardware and software setup, configuration and testing of customer projects
- System behavior testing
- Customer service, support and communication
- Running Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT) and Sea Trial (ST) tests for customers
Qualifications for the role:
- Knowledge of PLCs, specifically B&R
- Experience with Python and C++ programming
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Understanding of automation communication interfaces (CAN, Modbus, Serial)
- Basic knowledge of sensors and sensor signals (e.g., GPS, IMU)
- Familiarity with Git, Jira, and/or Azure
- Testing experience, running FATs, HATs, SATs
- Ability to travel, working together with customers and other stakeholders on site
- Good communication skills
