Your role and responsibilities
Join a dynamic and innovative team at ABB Smart Power with a strong mission to increase the level of automation and digitalization in the Vaasa factory. As an Automation Engineer, your main role is to maintain and increase production lines availability and performance. You will be also part of developing our current automation solutions and participate in projects implementing new automation and digital solutions. You work in close co-operation with production, maintenance and quality functions.

To be successful in this role, your technical skills may include key words such as: PLC, industrial & mobile robotics, machine vision, industry automation 4.0, OPC UA, IoT, process simulation, embedded software, edge computing, machine learning, Python, C#, DevOps.

The work model for the role is: #LI-onsite.

This position reports to Continuous Improvement Manager.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Handling PLC/HMI software design and programming with various languages in a factory environment
- Supporting our integration of MES / machine vision / robot programming and testing automation

Team Dynamics
Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager you will work in our Smart Power factory and be part of a professional and supportive Continuous Improvement team. You will gain the opportunity to develop your skills in the fields of automation and digitalization with a direct impact to improve our manufacturing processes

Qualifications for the role:
- Basic programming skills and some experience with machine vision integrations
- Strong IT, analytical and systems skills with the ability to coordinate and communicate
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. level education from a relevant field, such as Automation or similar
- Good written and spoken communication skills in Finnish
- A collaborative and solution-focused approach to work
- Earlier experience from automation or from similar roles is considered a benefit
