This unique position requires a deep understanding of academic research and a proven track record of grant writing to advance innovative projects and contribute to the academic community's understanding of these emerging technologies. Principal Lecturer will play a key role in connecting the academic world, especially with the technology industry and the defence sector. In addition, Principal Lecturer gets to train our students, future talents, in the field of Metaverse and IoT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Grant Proposal Development
- Search for funding opportunities from various sources including government agencies, EU programmes, private foundations, and defence sectors.
- Cooperate with research teams to develop comprehensive grant proposals
- Provide expertise in crafting compelling grant narratives in Metaverse and IoT to refine project goals and methodologies

2. RDI Coordination
- Lead Metaverse and IoT projects to achieve world-class outcomes with international recognition
- Foster international public-private partnerships to enhance collaboration and secure funding for impactful projects
- Orient research activities towards impactful results and advancing knowledge in Metaverse and IoT
- Guide funded projects, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and advancing research agendas
- Foster communication and knowledge sharing among interdisciplinary teams to enhance project outcomes

3. Community Engagement
- Engage with industry, government, and academia to shape EU programme calls and political decisions
- Collaborate with influential stakeholders to shape research agendas in Metaverse and IoT locally, nationally, and internationally
- Participate in professional networks and conferences to stay updated on Metaverse and IoT developments, representing the institution strategically
- Organize workshops, seminars, and public lectures to raise awareness of Metaverse and IoT technologies and foster global collaboration and support

4. Teaching Activities
- Teach courses related to Metaverse and IoT
- Incorporate research findings and methodologies into teaching materials to provide students with real-world insights
- Ensure curriculum matches industry needs, preparing students for real-world challenges

QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with a focus on Metaverse, IoT, or relevant areas
- At least three years of relevant experience in the field
- Teacher's pedagogical studies (60 credits) are an advantage; however, the studies can also be completed alongside work within a reasonable time after starting work
- Demonstrated expertise in both academic research and grant writing, with a track record of publications and successful grant awards
- Comprehensive knowledge of Metaverse technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR), as well as IoT frameworks and protocols
- Extensive understanding of autonomous systems, encompassing robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning applications
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and foster partnerships across academia, industry, and government sectors

The position is subject to a 6-month trial period.

In this position, work must be carried out in Finland.
