We are looking for a Lead Engineer, electrical, at ABB Oy Marine & Ports division, Marine Systems Service, Engineering team. Marine Systems Service delivers propulsion system modernizations and decarbonization solutions such as shore to ship connections and energy storage systems. The engineering team assesses existing installations, proposes new solutions for life cycle extensions, assists sales, and engineers state of art systems.

In this role, you will be engineering modernizations based on ABB's newest technology solutions to extend the vessel's life cycle. You will cooperate with internal stakeholders globally and in addition with classification society and with end customers. Position will be located in Helsinki or Turku and requires international travelling.

This position reports to Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility of the project engineering in service projects, for example modernizations of propulsion control system or electric energy storage system
- System engineering including functional descriptions, test procedures and other documentation
- Coordinating of tasks of hardware engineer and software engineer, procurement, and docking planning with project manager
- Customer communication of project technical matters
- Organizing society class approval of projects and leading factory acceptance testing (FAT)
- Supporting sales, evaluating technical scope of supply
- Supporting continuous improvement of project, system design, product, and processes
- Supporting and ensuring successful results in installation, commissioning, harbor acceptance testing (HAT), sea trial testing (SAT), and warranty claim closing

Your background:
- Strong experience in working with medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems including generators, motors, drives, transformers, switchboards or battery systems
- Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools
- Understanding and knowledge of PLC control systems
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, preferably at least five years of relevant experience
- Experience in marine industry and systems is an advantage
- Commissioning, service, and other on-site experience is an advantage
- Experience of ABB products such as low and medium voltage drives, switchboards, propulsion control system (PCS), power and energy management systems (PEMS), and Onboard DC Grid (ODCG) is an advantage
- A positive attitude and good communication skills to quickly resolve project related activities and issues
- Good spoken and written communication skills in English is mandatory, Finnish is an advantage.
- Ability and willingness to travel approx. 30 days per year typically but not limited in United States and Europe
