Chief Engineer, Technical Analysis

We are now looking for a Chief Engineer, Technical Analysis to join our Board and Paper Mills business unit in Järvenpää or Jyväskylä.

As a Chief Engineer of Technical Analysis your main responsibilities include versatile analysis and calculations tasks. You execute load, frame, component and power requirement calculations for board and paper machines. Various type of problem solving is something that makes your days interesting and offers you the possibility to experience and learn something new every day. In addition to calculation and analysis work, you lead and organize our subcontractors’ analysis work which gives an enriching angle to your work. You delegate assignments to our subcontracts, give them briefings, check and comment their results. Your responsibility area offers you the opportunity to plan and coordinate your and also others' work.

The position offers a good combination of independent analysis work and inspiring team work with our internal Valmet team and our stakeholders. You act as an expert of your own field with our internal stakeholders and occasionally also in customer interface. You have a chance to see the impact of your work and leave your mark in our global projects. Your core team of 4 people is always there to back you up, offer you guidance and support along the way.

Expections to you

You are a team player with good collaboration skills and willingness to develop yourself and team performance. A systematic, self-driven and result-oriented way of working is beneficial in the role. You are interested in structural engineering, machine dynamics and finite element methods. We also hope you share our passion in technology and the commitment to move our customers' performance forward. 

To succeed in this position, you most likely also have:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in relevant technology, e.g. mechanical or structural engineering
  • FEM skills (Ansys, Femap/Nastran)
  • Interest in mathematics and physics
  • Mathcad and other software skills are an advantage
  • Some work experience in a relevant industry is an advantage
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Finnish
