Information Management (IM) is part of our Digital Organisation. IM integrates processes, systems and information, supporting businesses in digitizing the core operations and enables new digital business opportunities via technology and information. The purpose of IM’s Acceleration Centre is to accelerate strategic business and support function initiatives and to extract maximum value from our existing investments in core IT platforms. The IM Acceleration Centre focuses on redesigning existing processes that are visible to our customers, employees and partners. The IM Acceleration Centre is located in Vaasa, Finland and started its operations in August 2017.

We are now looking for a Web Application Developer to join the IM Acceleration Centre. The Web Application Developer is a part of a team that acts as a strategic advisor to implement innovative, transformational change. The Web Application Developer combines world class problem solving skills and analytical excellence to help solving our toughest business problems. The Web Application Developer understands current core IT platforms and recommends feasible solutions. The Web Application Developer plays a key part in IM Acceleration Centre as a representative for the bridge between Information Management and Wärtsilä business divisions. The Web Application Developer participates in the discussion between IM and the business to understand the feasibility, viability and desirability of the proposed idea and how to get there. After that the Web Application Developer translates the business needs into mock-ups, proof of concepts in collaboration with IM and other subject matter experts.

You have a vision on how to increase business value of IT to improve profitable business growth. You are energetic, good with people and passionate about delivering results. You are used to working in an agile manner and in a scrum and DevOps environment.


  • Improve User Experience: Ease of Use & Satisfaction as per usability roadmap
  • Exploring and developing WebApps (Angular, JS, HTML, CSS)
  • Service transition of WebApps
  • Executing Code reviews to ensure quality of delivery
  • Adopting DevOps tools and methodology
  • Requirement management and Service Design experience
  • Participate in workshops with the customers and/or end users in mind to further define initial business ideas
  • Break complex issues into manageable tasks
  • Accelerate productivity and buy-in through a series of activities and help end-users uncover and articulate barriers and design potential solutions according to their needs
  • Work in close co-operation with business stakeholders, vendors and other IM teams to promote fit for purpose solutions
  • Promotes and drives thought leadership and exposes the IM team and the businesses to new concepts


  • Education: M.Sc. or B.Sc. or equivalent
  • Java / .NET WebApps development
  • Cloud platforms experience
  • Experience in Angular, JS, HTML, CSS
  • Familiar with Service Oriented Architecture
  • Experience with MS SQL
  • Experience in DevOps & Agile methodologies
  • Understands information flow and integrations
  • Proven track record and extensive experience in development functions in a global environment
  • Good service design and user experience methodology understanding
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong self-management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
  • Genuine passion, interest and ability to adjust to continuously changing priorities and needs
