Due to our current, long-term VP, Sustainability moving into new role outside Valmet, we are looking for an experienced and passionate sustainability professional and a positive team-player to continue taking Valmet’s strong sustainability performance forward. As VP, Sustainability you will lead a small team of sustainability professionals and drive, coach and coordinate a wide matrix of colleagues from different functions, business lines and area organizations around the world towards our joint sustainability goals. You ensure that we have systematic annual action plans, targets and follow-up in place, well-functioning processes, tools and way-to-operate, and you enhance the sustainability competences of the global organization and the external partners.
In this position you report to SVP, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability, and will be preferably located in Valmet’s head office in Espoo, Finland.
Your main responsibilities
Develop, implement and follow-up on Valmet’s Sustainability360º Agenda, related processes, initiatives and governance
Drive implementation, follow-up and reporting of Valmet’s global Climate Program
Develop internal and external (e.g. Valmet suppliers) competences in sustainability globally
Lead, develop and coordinate Valmet´s annual sustainability reporting and assurance processes according to the GRI reporting standard, standard for non-financial reporting (NFI), TCFD and other relevant reporting frameworks
Lead, develop and coordinate Valmet´s reporting to selected global indices and rankings
Ensure Valmet’s active dialogue with key stakeholders and act as Valmet’s corporate level subject matter expert/spokesperson with multiple external stakeholders e.g. customers, suppliers, investors and financial community
Your qualifications
To be successful in this role you need to have a strong background in sustainability management in an international environment and a deep understanding of sustainability reporting and related regulatory developments. Strategic and analytical mindset together with passionate, hands-on way of working is a combination that we really value. In addition to your solid sustainability competence and expertise you are able to consult and coach others in an engaging and energizing way, and you love to collaborate with a large number of colleagues from different levels of the organization and from different cultures.
We expect you to have:
Relevant academic degree
Strong experience in managing sustainability in an international company
Analytical and strategic thinking combined with creativity
Strong leadership skills, cooperative attitude and ability to successfully manage a global matrix organization and networks
Active and energetic approach to continuously improve and renew Valmet’s sustainability performance, processes and tools
Ability to crystallize complex issues and create concise, strategy-based messages and communicate them effectively
Excellent writing, presentation and communications skills in English, Finnish language skills are an advantage
Curiosity to learn and develop, and readiness to travel globally to the areas where Valmet operates
