VTT Summer of Changemakers 2021 is looking for you. We offer over 30 truly meaningful summer traineeships, where you get to challenge yourself and build your career in a community of brilliant minds. We are one of Europe’s leading research organisations. We turn global challenges – from climate change and resource sufficiency to industrial renewal and smart healthcare – into sustainable growth with the latest and best tools of science and technology. Now, we are looking for passionate changemakers – you – to join us as summer trainees.
Do you want to be the next sustainability program trainee?
We are looking for two trainees to support the building and implementation of VTT’s sustainability program. Sustainability is one of the key areas in VTT strategy. In order to better answer the stakeholder expectations and to operate in a responsible manner, VTT is launching a sustainability program. The program boosts sustainability in VTT’s operation and impact in environmental, social and governance topics.
What would your responsibilities include?
As part of the sustainability program task force you will be
- Helping to create the action roadmap towards VTT sustainability targets
- Participating in defining and setting up sustainability measures and indicators
- Helping to set up sustainability assessment tools and services for VTT research projects
- Producing internal training material
- Improving CSR reporting and communication
Precise allocation of tasks between the two trainees can be adjusted based on expertise and interest. As a preliminary plan, environmental issues will form one responsibility area whereas social and governance issues will be in the focus of the other area.
Who we are looking for?
To succeed in the position, you have following background and skills:
- Minimum 2 years of environmental or sustainability studies
- Interest in corporate sustainability development
The ideal VTT Changemaker is a curious mind, who is eager to develop and take on new challenges. We appreciate ambition and willingness to learn over having all the answers or skills ready when you start. You are also a team player with strong collaboration skills who wants to drive positive impact in the world.

All VTT Summer of Changemakers traineeships are paid and the duration is usually between 3 and 6 months. The exact starting date can be discussed. Positions are filled as soon as we find the right candidate.
