Our Machine Controls team creates and develops onboard control system solutions and offboard software for our customers. Our team provides professional services in the areas of software specification, system design, software implementation and software testing for Surface Drilling division products. The team is involved in both new product projects and responsible for lifecycle maintenance of current products.
We are strengthening and developing our Machine Controls team and are now looking for a proactive and future-oriented SYSTEM ENGINEER for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland to take ownership of our TIM3D navigation system. In this role, you coordinate our TIM3D navigation system development and maintenance work. Sandvik’s TIM3D navigation system brings drilling rigs into the realm of 3D machine automation, utilizing satellite navigation to improve drilling accuracy and efficiency. In your role as System Engineer, you create specifications for new implementations and update existing ones when needed, acting as a product owner for TIM3D. You collect feature requests and support sales and aftermarket organization in technical questions regarding the product. You will work with external and internal software developers, testers and customers.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Specifying new and maintain existing features
• Collecting and managing needs from customers and internal stakeholders
• Acting as a first contact point for our TIM3D system in R&D
• Coordinating software release work with development team
About you and what we find important
We expect you to have experience in embedded systems, product development or software development. You have a general understanding on GNSS navigation and BIM/3D models or you have a genuine interest to develop your expertise in these areas. Experience in coordinating software development work and creating feature specifications, as well as familiarity with requirements management tools such as Polarion or Jira are considered a plus. Ideally, you have a suitable degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in computer science, electronics, automation or equivalent. As a person you are a self-directed team player with good co-operation and negotiation skills. Fluency in English is also a must.
