NREP has identified a clear opportunity to implement high impact sustainable improvements in living properties. During the development phase as well as construction of new residential and Noli projects, the focus for Project Developers is to create the best customer value, stay within budget and finish on time. To fully live by their vision of improving the built environment to enrich people's lives NREP has decided to create a role with the main purpose of finding, scaling and implementing new ways of improving the sustainable angle in the construction development projects.

The role as Sustainable Technologies Manager will fill the gap between designing innovative ideas and the actual implementation into the company’s project developments in terms of inter alia modularization, strategic sourcing, and sustainability. The role will provide to the NREP organization the evaluating, project implementation and foundational skills to invent, launch and scale successful pilots.

Day to day work in the role will consist of evaluating new development, design, and construction techniques. The role is also about challenging set assumptions in the industry by creating a foundation for implementation and driving change trough personal contacts with people like project managers, construction consultants and business areas managers.

As Sustainable Technologies Manager, you will report to Joonas Viitanen who leads the Project Development team within the Living business line. In this role one will be able to impact the whole business unit of Living throughout the Nordics as the Living business line is responsible for the residential and related investments across NREP.

The ambition for this role the coming years is to have had implemented many successful new products, techniques, and viewpoints trough having built a platform both internally and externally to scale projects from. This way you have changed NREP’s way of working and maybe even improved the whole industry.

General responsibilities

• Identifying and piloting high-impact improvements to the way develop (design and construct) our living properties.
• Laying the foundation for scaling these improvements following successful pilots
• Collaboration with company´s other sustainability leads to share best practices and common tools

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Drive adoption of modular development in NREP’s living projects
• Identify and drive opportunities for strategic sourcing
• Identify and drive selected high-impact sustainability initiatives for NREP’s living projects. Examples could include:
  • Deep geothermal as a new energy production technology
  • Air-to-water heat pump technology adapted for apartments buildings for the dense urban areas where geothermal can not be implemented
• As the outcome from above, reduce the CO2 footprint and improve the quality of living properties

Profile

Professional competencies

• A relevant technical university degree, unless technical expertise can be demonstrated in another capacity
• Experience as project manager/developer or similar within the construction and/or real estate industry
• Experience of design management, contracting (construction contracts), and technical cost-benefit analysis
• Understanding of sustainability in real estate development context
• Project leadership & management experience and skills
• Experience from working in an international setting, preferably in cross-border roles
• Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken
