Software Developer Trainee / DevOps Trainee

We are looking for a trainee to a team which supports and develops research data services for researchers in Finland and in Europe. Services are part of EUDAT cooperation, www.eudat.eu.

In this position, you will get to know professional software engineering in practice. The position is suitable for you if you have gained some competence in server maintenance and/or programming through your studies or hobby, and you are ready to learn new things and work as part of a team.

Front-End Developer Trainee

CSC provides research services both nationally and internationally. In this position, you will work on challenges related to the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reuse of data produced in scientific research.

You will participate in the Fairdata service's front-end development tasks as part of a software development team led by the service's product owner. We hope that you have expertise in some of the following technologies:

Software Developer Trainees in Cultural Heritage PAS-service

The trainees would participate in the agile team of software development of the Cultural Heritage PAS service, FAIRDATA-PAS service or SAPA service. Daily work is the development of software according to Scrum routines. In addition to coding, the trainee gets to participate in designing, testing and exporting software to production.

We wish you have some experience on some of the following areas:

• Programming skills: preferably Python knowledge, some programming courses completed

• Linux: experience in application development in a Linux environment (preferably admin/root roles are familiar)

• XML knowledge is an advantage: you master example basics of XML

• Software engineering tools are familiar: version controls and ticketing systems, Scrum methodology.

• Languages skills: Finnish and English

Full-Stack Developer Trainee for Research.fi development

Developer trainee position; tasks consist of supporting the development of Research.fi - especially related to data integration and data portal development. The trainee would be supported by other developers in the group.

The tasks would include e.g.:

• Support the service development activities, most notably the Research.fi

• Taking active part in planning and supporting implementation of Research.fi related data integration solutions and portal development

• Helping in documenting the code, taking part in dailys, weeklys and planning meetings

Most suitable candidate would be one with enthusiasm about backend/full stack development and ambition to learn more about data integration technologies and how information flows in data hub solutions. Experience in one or many of the following is appreciated: SQL, ElasticSearch, ASP.net core, REST APIs, Angular. You are keen in developing cloud-based services, e.g. OpenStack, OpenShift and Docker. You have excellent or fluent English skills. Finnish is an advantage. Any related work experience in e.g. service development is an advantage.

Design system & Front-end developer Trainee

We are looking for a summer trainee interested in design systems, modern front end development and accessibility. General skills and interest in WAI-ARIA standards and semantic HTML are important, but this position is for someone who wants to learn and grow their knowledge in this area.

We wish you would have interest and perhaps some experience in Stencil.js, Typescript, UX engineering and usability.

Your work is supported by senior designers and developers, and this is a great opportunity to grow in the areas of interdisciplinary team work and development of accessible web services

Our summer trainees usually work from May to August, but other dates are also possible. The duration is usually 3-4 months. Please send your application no later than 13.2.2023.
