Summer Trainee, Solar

Your role 

Global Solar Technology Team is responsible for facilitating Fortum’s Solar Business in growing to gigawatt-scale. Current solar operations of Fortum are focused on India, Nordics and Russia. In the future we want to grow in geographies with fundamentally attractive solar conditions and willingness to transform the energy system towards a Solar Economy.

You will become an essential member of our dynamic Global Solar Technology Team. The team is involved in the whole PV project value chain, both in organic growth and in technical due diligence with mergers and acquisitions. Your primary focus will be to support the energy yield simulation of Fortum’s solar power plants. You will work with several software packages, compare their yield simulations and you will analyze different types of weather data as inputs for the energy yield simulations.

You will also have a supporting role in PV market analysis; your tasks will range from component supplier analysis to following price trends for future price projections. In addition to this there can be several solar-related adhoc tasks, depending on the ongoing project needs.

Your qualifications 

You are passionate about renewable energy. You have a bachelor’s degree and are doing Master's degree in engineering, preferably majoring in electrical engineering/energy/physics, with excellent grades. Knowledge about PV systems is considered beneficial. You are a self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with business acumen and understanding of customer-facing roles. You are a team player, quick learner, have outstanding communication skills, and adopt easily to a dynamic working environment. You speak and write English fluently, while your knowledge of other languages (especially Finnish and Swedish) will be appreciated. Advanced Excel skills are considered beneficial.
