We are offering a position as a Software Engineer at ABB Oy, Marine and Ports, Marine Service Center unit in Helsinki. In this position, you will be responsible for the software design of ship propulsion systems in modernization projects for passenger vessels and icebreakers. You will act as a propulsion application specialist in a multi-disciplinary project team, being responsible for solution design and programming for control systems and user interfaces. Your tasks will also include solution-wide testing, on-site commissioning, sea trials, and project reporting, along with documentation. We require a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in electrical or automation engineering. You have several years’ experience with ABB drives and AC 800 control systems, as well as overall knowledge of generators, motors, drives, and switchboards. Knowledge of older ABB systems is an advantage. Commissioning experience is required. You have proven history of working in a hectic environment and direct customer interface. In order to succeed in this job, you need to have a service-oriented mindset, good communication skills, as well as the abilities to use your own initiative and to collaborate with other people to find solutions – so you are a team player. You think systematically and have the ability to prioritize your tasks. You can retain your functional ability under pressure. You are always ready to develop yourself and willing to travel, sometimes on short notice. Fluent Finnish and excellent English skills are required; other language skills are an asset. You are proficient with Microsoft Office and Control Builder, and you know the basics of SAP.
