Simulator Technician & Simulator Engineer

Finnair Flight Academy is now looking for enthusiastic and proactive
to maintain our state-of-the-art Full Flight Simulators.

As a Simulator Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing sophisticated computer-controlled systems and networks, as well as, flight simulator and training equipment maintenance including reporting and documentation. Operating support, technical assistance and safety briefings to our customers are also an important part of your job.

As a Simulator Technician, you will be part of our tightly intertwined Simulator Maintenance team consisting of Simulator Technicians and Shift Supervisors. In this position you will report to Manager, Simulator Maintenance.

In addition to the tasks of Simulator Technician, Simulator Engineer is responsible for maintaining personally nominated flight training device. As a Simulator Engineer, you will be performing tests and inspections required by the authorities and you communicate with aviation authorities, simulator manufacturers and suppliers. You will ensure that preventive maintenance work is fulfilled, and you will be responsible for developing and modifying the flight training devices. Also, you will update user instructions and develop continuation training materials.

As a Simulator Engineer, you cooperate with Chief Flight Instructors and other interest groups. In this position you will report to Manager, Simulator Engineering.

In both roles, every day is different and varies from unexpected situations requiring quick action to more peaceful moments when you have the possibility to develop our ways of working.

Expectations towards Flight Simulator Technician and Flight Simulator Engineer:

  • Suitable technical educational background
  • Professional experience in digital technology and/or networks and electronics. Experience in mechanics is considered as an advantage.
  • Experience in different operating systems (e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux)
  • Interest in flying simulator
  • Logical problem-solving skills
  • Analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure
  • Good written and spoken English and Finnish

Even though the general expectations are the same, we expect the Simulator Engineer candidates to meet the expectations on a more profound level since the Simulator Engineer has more responsibilities.

You might be the person we are looking for if you have a self-initiative way of working, desire to learn new things and interest towards flying and aviation. As part of your induction we will teach you to fly simulators and hope that you’ll maintain your flying skills during working.

Finnair Flight Academy is open for training 24/7 so work is done in three shifts (day 07-14, evening 14-22 and night 22-07). CLA for the positions is CLA 05 FT, Technical. The compensation level for the Simulator Technician position is D, and for the Simulator Engineer F.
