We are now looking for a Silo Station Manager in Tornio with a background in maintenance and supply management.
This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial and dynamic person who wants to see and develop the Lhoist terminals to manage and supply the suitable product to meet customer and quality needs.
The overall mission of the Silo Station Manager is to ensure that the Lhoist terminals in Röyttä and Ajos Harbour are well maintained, and that the logistic flow and storage of products are being handled to meet internal and customer requirements. The Silo Station Manager works in close cooperation with customers, stakeholders, and Finnish colleagues.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing a small team of internal and/or external operators.
- Managing all aspects of silo station operations, i.e. monitoring consumption of products, managing discharging of vessels together with shipping agent, as well as storing, handling, and loading of outgoing product in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Organizing and managing quality control
- Managing the equipment used by Lhoist. To see that equipment is well maintained and always operational in cooperation with external maintenance companies.
- Maintaining a continuous consumption forecast with simulation programs and with internal logistic organisations.
- Making continuous short-term forecasts and taking actions in case it is required, for instance overtime for arranging ship discharging or similar.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with cost structure and supplier invoices as well as developing procedures to attain cost optimization.
- Assisting in finding efficient logistic solutions within Finland as well as developing an in-depth understanding of local / regional environments.
- Developing a service-oriented team and facility
- Being an active member of the Lhoist Team and communicating effectively internally and externally.
- Backing up for the Terminal Manager in Kotka and Kokkola
The position reports to the Nordic Operations Manager, based in Denmark. The Employee will be based in Tornio, near the Harbour, and the scope of responsibility will be, when applicable, in close cooperation with stevedoring companies both in Tornio and Ajos Harbour.
- Estimated time spent per site is 90 % Tornio Harbour and 10 % Ajos Harbour. To manage travelling the employee must have access to an own car and have a driving licence, since travelling will be required between Tornio and Ajos.
The ideal candidate will have
- At least 5 years working experience with similar tasks with focus on maintenance
- Mechanical or chemical education
- Knowledge of industrial minerals and steel industry
- Chemicals Supervisor Training – or be willing to take the training.
- Fluent English and Finnish skills
