Job description

Orion has seen massive growth in R&D productivity over the last couple of years and has now an exciting R&D pipeline with transformational potential. We have also started to build capabilities for Biological projects. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to strengthen our pipeline to ensure R&D's future success. Our Biologics team is now recruiting an additional R&D expert with a track record of developing biopharmaceuticals.

We are looking for a Senior Scientist with a strong background in engineering of therapeutic proteins to join our team in Turku, Finland. This is a hands-on lab-based Senior Scientist role with scientific and technical expertise in the field of protein engineering and molecular biology. In your role you will design and create novel fusion proteins, antibodies as well as novel antibody scaffolds. You will also develop strategies to guide the design of biotherapeutics with improved biological properties and developability characteristics. Furthermore you will be responsible for evaluating novel and cutting edge biologics (e.g.fusion proteins, antibody, various protein scaffolds).

Description of unit

Orion's pharmaceutical innovations are created within its R&D organization, including e.g. non-clinical research, clinical development, formulation development and medical affairs. The organization employs top professionals in the field of drug molecule development and optimization.

The recently established Biologics team is part of our R&D organization and it is responsible for bringing forward our biologics pipeline. Adding the possibility to modulate the target with either small or large molecules enables us to choose the right target and then use the best modalities to modulate the target protein in order to create the best value for patients.

We offer

We offer exciting opportunities to create and have an impact to the future therapies for patients. You will have a great opportunity to influence your own role and the further development of the organization because you will part of building up a new Biologics team. Appreciation of personnel, ensuring balance between work and personal life and constant development are part of our core values at Orion and we offer you attractive career development opportunities. We have a strong scientific focus and a highly interesting R&D pipeline as well as an enthusiastic working environment. The culture of Orion R&D is informal and we enjoy working together.

The job is located in Turku, Finland, and we offer relocation support if the chosen candidate currently lives in another country. If moving to Finland, please check the areas where Finland is considered a world leader

The ideal candidate has additional experience with recombinant protein expression, purification, and analytics for proteins and antibodies and five years of working experience in the pharma industry.

Patience and willingness to create new things is a must because you will join a newly established team. The role includes collaboration within Orion and CROs, therefore strong communication skills and an ability to convince your audience is an asset.

We are passionate about patient welfare and we are The Voice of Science and the Patient – do you share the same values? Please apply by 1st of November!
