We are seeking for a senior scientist experienced in spectroscopic sensing and imaging applications.
You have a customer-oriented mind-set with capability to bridge understanding of unique customer challenges with innovative optical sensing solutions. We expect that you are interested in driving system integration and application development of advanced spectral imaging instruments for space, precision agriculture, UAVs and diagnostics as well as next-generation spectral imaging for smart homes, cars and mobile devices. You will lead projects working with a cross-functional (optical-, electrical - and mechanical design, assembly, calibration, testing and UI software) engineering team capable of providing their expertise for each integration subtask. You will initiate and carry out both academic research in H2020, Tekes or ESA projects and international customer projects with start-ups and large global corporations.
The position requires background in optical sensing methods or spectroscopy, and capability to develop understanding for system level integration of devices based on VTT’s key technologies. Knowledge of basic principles of how tunable filters such as Fabry-Perot Interferometers can be used in microspectrometers and hyperspectral imagers is considered an advantage. We would prefer that you have previous expertise in driving optical sensing instrument integration, or experience from some of the related areas (sensor HW optics, electronics or software). Expertise related to hyperspectral imaging applications or machine vision/AI algorithms is considered an advantage. As we work closely with our international partners in Europe, US and Asia, we look forward that you have an ability to work in international projects and settings.
