Do you want to join a globally leading printed- and hybrid electronics development team focusing on new renewable electronics technologies, environmentally friendly additive electronics manufacturing processes, technologies enabling IoT, as well as novel methodologies for wellness and healthcare?
In our group, you will be on the edge of new technologies involving novel materials, processes and multidisciplinary product applications. As part of our team, you will work with globally leading universities, research institutes and companies in the area of printed and hybrid electronics materials, processes and end-user applications.
With us you will be responsible for
VTT printed electronics pilot factory has full-scale lines for roll-to-roll (R2R) printing, component assembly, converting and overmoulding. You will lead R&D and act as a specialist especially in overmoulding of printed and hybrid integrated electronics processes to create seamlessly integrated plastics-electronics systems for versatile applications.
Your work will be strongly collaborative and international. You work closely with other VTT competence areas, VTT’s collaborators in EU- and national jointly funded projects as well as in commission projects of VTT’s national and international customers around the world. Together with technological leadership, we also expect you to have a strong role in project preparation focusing our future research activities.
We expect you to have
A university degree (M.Sc or Ph.D) preferably in plastics and elastomers technology or alternatively in machine design. You have related practical experience in plastics product design or processing and have understanding in electronics manufacturing. You know material properties of most common commodity and engineering plastics and have experience in material selection procedure. You are familiar with processing techniques of thermoplastics such as injection moulding and thermoforming and potentially in-mould techniques such as in-mould electronics.
Your valuable assets are:
- Knowledge about compatibility, characteristics and failure analysis of different polymers and plastics
- Injection moulding process including mould design, -simulation and process optimization
- Experience in project and technology management

Open-minded and passion for developing new technologies. You take initiatives and responsibilities, and have good interaction skills. You are able to apply theory and take it in action. You are cooperative, have good networking skills and fluent communication in English.
