We are looking for a Senior Researcher, Catalysis

to join our Catalysis Research team in Porvoo Technology Center.

The Catalysis Research group is a recently reorganised team in the Catalyst and Refining department at Neste R&D unit. Group members provide expertise needed in R&D projects and refining expert services.

As a senior researcher, you will work as a team member or project manager in research and development projects. You will work as a catalyst expert in the projects and share your competence to reach the project targets. Your responsibilities are to evaluate and recommend active and selective catalysts for reactions of renewable, waste and recycled feeds. Your responsibility may also include planning, supervising and reporting laboratory scale experiments. A goal is to explore the relationship between catalyst properties and performance. You also participate in the innovation processes of Neste. 

We are a medium size team of researchers working in Catalysis Research. Our team is responsible for maintaining and developing the competence in catalysis and catalytic processes. We work closely with Finnish and foreign universities and internal and external service providers to reach the targets of our R&D projects. Our work combines accountability, cooperation, and the desire to develop and renew. Working safely at all times is essential to all of us.


Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is 

  •     At least a Master's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry, higher university degree is accounted for your benefit
  •     At least 7 years experience in R&D or industry working with catalysis after MSc or at least 3 years after PhD. 
  •     Deep understanding of catalysis and catalytic processes
  •     Understanding of catalyst materials and either characterisation or methods of activity testing.
  •     Excellent cooperation and communication skills
  •     Desire for personal development
  •     Full professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written

We also value

  •   Understanding of chemical or petrochemical industry
  •   Earlier experience with renewable, waste or recycled feeds
  •   Earlier experience as a project manager

The position will be located in Kilpilahti industrial area in Porvoo, which is located 40 minutes from Helsinki city center by car. We also arrange bus transportation for our employees from Helsinki, Porvoo and the surrounding areas.

The recruitment process includes interviews and aptitude testing. The first interviews are preliminary scheduled to take place on week 13.
