Senior Research Scientist, antibody development

Do you want to join Biosensors Team? We are developing tailored antibodies using phage display technology for diagnostics and various analytical purposes. We are also generating biosensors and microfluidic platforms for different health and environment related immunoassay and nucleic acid test applications.

With us you will be responsible for the development, production and engineering of recombinant antibodies used in medical, food safety or environmental field with point-of-care or laboratory related settings. Expertise in antibody engineering and protein chemistry including downstream processing and antibody characterization is required. Your main responsibilities include design of experimental procedures and protocols; implementation of the experiments according to established timelines and milestones; participating in grant and proposal writing; developing and managing industrial collaborations. To be successful in this position you should be capable of performing and reporting research extensively. In addition, you should be able to guide other team members in the use, design and implementation of antibody development and processing tasks.

Main responsibilities:

  • developing, engineering and characterization of new antibodies for health- and environmental analytics
  • production and downstream processing of antibodies and antibody fragments
  • immunoassay development
  • integration of antibodies to biosensors
  • project planning and preparation together with other researchers, customers and other stakeholders,
  • writing proposals and reports
  • implementation of actual research work as a project manager or as a part of the project group

You should have strong organizational and communication skills required to assist and collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of researchers and engineers, in a dynamic team environment. An ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously as a member of an integrated multidisciplinary team is essential. Extensive knowledge of the antibody development process and experience mentoring fellows and/or students is preferred.

We expect you to have PhD in molecular biology, protein/antibody engineering, immunology, or related fields. You’ve already shown your capabilities on research (e.g. publications and/or successful project preparation and implementation) or in industrial career. Fluent spoken and written English is essential and Finnish skills are beneficial.
