Senior Planning Officer

Do you want to be part of the capital region's innovation ecosystem that attracts international growth companies and experts? City of Espoo is looking for a senior planning officer with strong development expertise for coaching and advising international start-ups and for building a service model for them.

The professional we are looking for will work on a three-year-long programme called Helsinki Region Softlanding Services for Startups, where the goal is to create a world-class innovation hub in the Helsinki capital region by attracting new and existing international growth companies to Espoo. The programme will create a new operating model for launching new international growth companies efficiently and helping companies integrate into the local innovation and business ecosystem.

Your workplace is in the city of Espoo in business services in Otaniemi as part of the Business Espoo network. But in addition to Espoo, the cities of Helsinki and Vantaa participate in the implementation of the project, and the team works in close operation between three cities. In addition, the project works closely with a wide network of partners, including local organizations that promote growth entrepreneurship in the Helsinki capital region and organizations abroad that advance Finland's competitiveness and growth.

Your role as a senior planning officer will be to provide guidance to international growth companies and ensure their landing is smooth and efficient. In practice, your work will include mentoring on startup permits and work-permit related issues, consultancy for Business Finland and private investors, as well as expediting company registrations, banking affairs and business development services for client companies. Your tasks also include planning and organizing events, marketing and communicating about services, and producing workshop content and networking events in Finland and abroad. You will also actively participate in the development of the general softlanding service portfolio.

Job requirements: outstanding ability to develop new service concepts, strong understanding of growth entrepreneurship and international business development, proven experience in network-based service development in multi-actor environments, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and excellent oral and written English language skills.

We consider versatile business management experience as well as international business experience to be an advantage. Coaching experience in start-up companies is also considered an asset, as is familiarity with matters involving entrepreneurship and work-based immigration.
