Senior Lecturer in the School of Wellbeing

We are looking for a new Senior Lecturer in the School of Wellbeing, whose work will focus on teaching students in the Degree Programme in Social Services. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced and personable individual to contribute to the academic and professional development of students. The work can also include providing a variety of different training courses and assignments.

are ready to explore future methods (such as virtual and simulation learning) in your teaching and
have experience working in a multicultural environment and can work in international teaching and development roles,

Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching and tutoring in English mainly in social services degrees. Teaching is done both on campus and online
- Developing and participating in the sale of RDI projects and continuing education courses with other staff
- Active cooperation with the rest of the work community, students, and working life
- Continuous development of teaching and guidance skills
We expect you to have:
- Master’s degree in social work or services or another applicable field and at least three years experience in the social services field
- Excellent English and satisfactory Finnish language skills
- Excellent interpersonal and cooperation skills and a proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and to be self-directed
We also value skills in the following areas:
- Completion of a teacher education course (at least 60 credits of pedagogical studies)
- The person selected for the position will be required to complete a professional teacher pedagogical qualification within three years of starting the employment relationship if they do not already hold one
- Previous teaching experience and extensive professional experience in the field of social services, especially in urban areas - dare to apply even if you have social competence in other areas!
- Methodological development of pedagogy and working in virtual learning environments
- Demonstrated competence in networking and a broad, strategic, and visionary approach to pedagogical, intra-degree, and organizational development work
We offer you a multidisciplinary and interesting working environment with many opportunities at the new Myllypuro campus. The Social Work team consists of around 25 lecturers, who are supportive of new team members! We have a good team spirit and mentor teachers will guide you.
Salaries and other working conditions are determined in accordance with the collective agreement for private education of the Union of Educational Employers (Sivista). The post will start on 5th August 2024 or as agreed. The post will be filled on a probationary basis.
