The School of Smart Solutions is seeking a future-oriented green transition expert for the position of Senior Lecturer
The School of Smart Solutions provides teaching related to biotechnology and chemical engineering, laboratory science, energy and environmental technologies, and electrical and automation engineering. The students graduating from the school will play a key role in providing companies with solutions for sustainable development, climate change and green transition.
An expert in the green transition
We are looking for an expert who understands industry's requirements in the green transition. We appreciate diverse knowledge of industrial processes. While your expertise may primarily be in mechanical or chemical engineering, what's more crucial is a forward-looking perspective and understanding of global changes amid the green transition. In addition to the familiarity with various processes, we appreciate the knowledge of topics such as production side streams and by-products, waste management, green chemistry, renewable energy, biorefining, or hydrogen production. As a lecturer, we expect you to be able to apply theory into practice in the laboratories of Metropolia's Myyrmäki campus.
What we are looking for
We value employees who are interested in developing themselves, staying up to date on developments in their field and implementing new ideas in teaching. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a diverse environment are important in our working community. Most important is enthusiasm for your field of knowledge. Teaching is given in English and Finnish, but fluency in Finnish is not required from the start, and we will provide support in learning Finnish. In addition to teaching, the job may include various professional development tasks.
Requirements
The position requires applicants to have at least Master’s degree in the field of technology (MSc/MEng or PhD/ScD/EngD). In addition to that, applicants must have a minimum of three years working experience in the industry. For teaching responsibilities, a Professional Teacher Education qualification is necessary, but it can be acquired during employment.

Salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with General collective agreement for the private teaching sector. Starting salary for senior lecturer is between EUR 4500 - 6000 depending on her/his experience and background.

Campus gyms are available to staff, and Metropolia supports employees' leisure activities and use of public transport. The benefit is €270 per year. In addition, statutory occupational health care services are available to all Metropolia employees. The right to use occupational health services is maintained during maternity and parental leave.
