You read that correctly, fullstackish! We are bold over here at SOK, inventing new tech categories left and right..
Your fullstackness correlates with how broadly interested you are in tech, meaning you are not necessarily locked into one technology over another. Our team has grown rapidly and is loaded with specialists, now we want the attitude, the curiosity and willingness to learn, along with an emphasis on backend/database/ data modeling. If you actually want to improve the daily lives of people, the products we are working on are for ! They don’t get to choose the products and devices they use, so its up to us to make them SING (or at least work really well). I’ll explain after this brief word from our sponsor:
SOK IT, Development & Design
We are a collection of 400 unique and diverse talents in Finland inside the 40,000 person S-Group which is Finland’s largest private employer. We are tasked with providing expert and strategic guidance to all of S-Group, its cooperatives and its owners, who are ultimately, millions of regular Finns. So essentially our shareholders, are you! We are therefore motivated to excel not by increasing profits for a small group of the 1%, rather to help our neighbors, our families, our fellow Finns and ex-pat neighbors, ourselves.
We are uniquely positioned inside S-Group with billions of rows of data from multiple use cases and business domains, all intimately connected to Finns as they/we go about our daily routines. We build SW products, apps and services highlighted by the regular dialogue between digital and IRL worlds, which genuinely makes our work consistently intriguing. We are design conscious, we believe in community internally and externally, pride ourselves on our open source commitment, our blossoming DevOps culture, and our use of modern tools and democratic development standards for an holistic philosophy to modern and pure software development practices.
Ok, so here’s the situation:
We have built two products none of you have ever heard of, TEPA and ASPO.
TEPA is used for ‘tasks and feedback’, think of this as a ‘to-do’ app on this device, giving thousands of store employees their list of what they need to do today. Stores get a lot of emails and excel sheets, we want to get rid of those. (if they ever met us, they would consider us heroes, as we are the ones helping eradicate EXCEL. Maybe we should get t-shirts made..)
On the feedback side, Tepa relates to business processes, like for example, statistics of what products sell quickly meaning there is shelf space, or maybe we need to sell that product at a discount because they won’t fit there, etc. This helps workers automate as much as possible, by collecting data and figuring out these various processes for us.
ASPO:
This is the customer path, a device with a set of tasks that a person goes through the store and checks things out, through the eyes of a customer, takes photos, jots down certain small things, is something broken, is there a box empty, etc. This makes sure the store is clean and looks appealing to customers, gathering data from these paths daily.
So, we have built these services, we own the backend, front end client all built by us. These have integrations to other systems of course, and are generic tools for other teams and for leverage etc.
The Job:
You will take ownership of the backends and databases of these systems and services we have built, with the ability to contribute some to the front ends as well.
Requirements:
Kotlin, Ktor, Typescript, node.js, React
Your experience has an emphasis on backends, data modeling, databases
