You? Experienced developer with a background in web services development with TypeScript, relational databases, and some knowledge of a cloud. Growth & curious mindset, willingness to explore and have an impact.
Role? Senior Full Stack Developer contributing to the development of Oikotie Työpaikat marketplace and to the renewal of the platform’s architecture. Designing and implementing new features, microservices, APIs & data storage solutions in AWS to serve our different platforms (Web, iOS, Android).
Tech stack? Vue.js, Nuxt.js, Typescript, GraphQL, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch & Jest. Containerised & serverless environments run in AWS and CI/CD pipelines are designed to deliver code into production several times a day.
Location? We work in a remote/hybrid way so you can be based anywhere in Finland! Currently, our squad is spread between Helsinki, Tampere, Lappeenranta, Seinäjoki & Oulu. If you like, our office is there for you just a few steps away from the Helsinki railway station.

WHO ARE YOU?
Background in web services & mastering Typescript as it is our key technology (we use it in both, frontend & backend).
Previous experience with UI frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, Nuxt or React) and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
Knowledge of API design and development (e.g. JSON, GraphQL).
Some experience working in a public cloud environment (e.g. AWS) around DevOps & IaC. But don’t worry if they are new to you, we’re sure you can pick them up with our help!
Ability to work in English (even on Monday mornings ;-). Our official language is English and we gather together people from multiple backgrounds (memes in Spanish, Indian cooking recipes, database parodies, and dog videos circulate on our Slack channels!).

WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?
Responsibilities & projects
As a valued member of our growing tech team, you are one of the key contributors to the renewal of the Oikotie Työpaikat marketplace which covers both B2C and B2B functionalities including an eCommerce platform. Your main focus is on renewing the platform’s architecture (splitting monolith to microservices, modernising tech stack, renewing UX & UI). Furthermore, you design and implement scalable & robust solutions in SEO-dependent high-load environments and you know your way around how to organise the code in a sustainable & maintainable way in large-scale projects.
As a senior developer, you are in a position to share your knowledge & expertise with your teammates and contribute to the collective mentoring of new/junior colleagues. Your expertise is also needed in product discovery initiatives, thus you can be sure to get a chance to collaborate with colleagues outside of the tech bubble! How do we strengthen Oikotie’s services and bring in more listings and traffic to the site? It is up to you and the squad!
During your first six months, we expect you to get on board, settle into the team & the community, gradually take over your role and form an understanding of what works and what needs some more attention.
Further down the road, approximately after 12 months, we’re eager to see you standing on your own (we’re here to have your back!). You will take an active role in defining our OKRs (Objectives - Key Results) and based on your interests, you can take ownership of a certain expertise area (frontend/backend/databases/AWS).
