Senior Data Scientist
Tietoa tehtävästä
Reactive Technologies, a leader in accurate grid measurement tools, is seeking a development-focused Senior Data Scientist to help drive their growth, either at the Oulu headquarters or remotely in Finland. The company’s mission is to streamline and accelerate the energy sector’s transition to zero-carbon energy.
As a Senior Data Scientist, your primary responsibility will be to apply advanced mathematical and machine learning techniques to analyze complex data, identify optimal approaches, and develop and benchmark both new and existing machine learning models. While you will work mostly independently, you will often collaborate with the Principal Data Scientist, Power Systems Engineers, and Electricity Market Experts. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing and expanding Reactive Technologies' services that support the clean energy transition.
Your specific tasks will include:
- Applying mathematical theories and techniques to data analysis, digital signal processing, and measurement challenges.
- Conducting mathematical research, calculations, and analysis, and applying findings to experiments.
- Managing big data and long time series, including writing efficient queries.
- Using signal and data processing techniques to extract features and analyze single or multidimensional data.
- Applying, testing, and evaluating state-of-the-art machine learning models for regression, classification, and prediction.
- Developing innovative models for real-time regression, classification, and prediction tasks.
- Visualizing and clearly communicating results, including patterns, features, and performance.
- Writing invention reports and product specifications when applicable.
- Drawing conclusions from analyzed data, identifying patterns, and reporting findings.
- Collaborating with the engineering team to design and implement new features.
- Managing, documenting, and communicating data science activities.
- Working with project leads to translate requirements into tasks and effort estimates.
You might be the candidate we are looking for if you have relevant experience and are proficient in statistical analysis and hypothesis testing for measurement data. You also have experience with machine learning, probabilistic models, and statistical signal processing. Your experience enables you to build and analyze mathematical models for signals and systems, and you understand which tools to use when modeling large data sets. Since the tasks are primarily independent, we hope you have a driven work style, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
We hope you have:
- Suitable educational background, such as Master’s or PhD in for example Data Science, Mathematics, Signal Processing, Computer Science or Physics
- Several years of relevant work experience
- Good programming skills (Python required) and familiarity with statistical analysis, algorithm development, and simulation tools
- Good communication skills and full working proficiency in English
We consider as an asset:
- Experience in working within the energy industry
- Knowledge of distributed systems and distributed learning
What Reactive Technologies can offer you:
- A place in a growing company using cutting-edge technology with an important mission to help enable the global renewable energy transition
- Independent and challenging role, where your skills and insight are truly appreciated
- Opportunities for professional growth and develop your skills
- A motivated and dynamic work community with flat and agile structure

- Private healthcare with extensive coverage health insurance
- Sport, culture, and bicycle benefit plus extra holidays according to your service years
- Competitive salary, bonus scheme, and share option scheme
This is a full-time and permanent position and the starting date can be negotiated.
