We are looking for an experienced, highly analytical Sales Planning and Development Director!

As our Sales Planning and Development Director you will be responsible for Marimekko´s business planning and follow-up on global sales activities, with a strong emphasis on accurate figures and analysis for decision making. One of your main responsibilities is to ensure that our business models and concepts are current and provide the best possible platform for maximizing growth and profitability. You will be the owner of sales process development and ways of working, i.e. you will act as sales’ link between our different functions and between HQ and subsidiaries. In this key position, you will report to the CSO and be located at Marimekko´s HQ in Helsinki, Finland.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Follow up on sales related must win battles; business planning and follow up on global sales activities in close cooperation with Business Development
  • Global Sales’ input to the budget cycle
  • Owning sales related numbers and forecasts for planning and follow up purposes, incl. providing support and insights to our global sales teams on sales, margin and product level
  • Providing support in further refining distribution channel strategies
  • Planning inventory levels, flow of goods/replenishment for sales and margin maximization across sales channels (in conjunction with Merchandising)
  • Providing input on price setting and monitoring of internal and external margins
  • Monitoring competitor activities and devising action plans when relevant
  • Further integration of sustainability initiatives as part of selling
  • Identifying new business opportunities or processes
  • Project owner on various Sales development initiatives

To be able to take our global sales to the next level, you need:

  • 7+ years’ experience in similar position within international business and sales, particularly retail
  • Proven track record from a top tier consultancy or corporate strategy function coupled with exposure to commercial and operational roles
  • A university degree (e.g. M. Econ. or M.Sc.)
  • Strong numbers, business analysis and planning skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • High performance skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English and Finnish
  • A forward-looking, positive personality with a highly analytical and systematic approach
  • A hands-on attitude accompanied by inborn leadership skills and ability to engage people
  • Experience from fashion, FMCG or design industry is considered as a true advantage
