Aalto University is looking for an inspiring Retail Operations Manager to lead the development of our first ever dedicated retail environment.

With the opening of Aalto’s first formal retail operation in 2018 the University needs to create a strong operational understanding of retail environments and build a business plan, a system and a strategy for long term success and growth.

The Retail Operations Manager will oversee the direction of all retail operations at Aalto University, creating a positive retail experience selling University branded goods, books and student work. The position is responsible for managing, setting up systems and creating practices. For the daily operations and profitable management of the forthcoming Aalto University Shop and new web shop, so that they best serve our customers, including both internal, external and business-to-business customers. Creating the new retail experience includes planning the logistics of warehousing and shipping products, designing a united experience in both the physical and digital marketplaces and recruiting the shop staff.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in retail business management, including a demonstrated understanding of staff management, e-commerce, merchandising, warehousing, fulfillment, shipping, POS and accounting system. Strong language skills in both Finnish and English is desired.

We offer you a varied and challenging position, and the support of a competent team. The position is two years fixed term contract and the salary is based on Aalto University’s salary system.
