We are looking for

researchers to work in the fields of micro, nano and/or quantum devices and systems.

With us you will be responsible for

R&D of solid-state devices and related systems for sensing and ICT including quantum technologies. The work utilizes Micronova clean room in Otaniemi, the largest micro- and nanofabrication facility in Northern Europe. Our existing technology platforms range from custom CMOS to Si photonics and superconductive electronics with applications from biosensing to quantum information. Integration and applications of graphene (2D materials) based devices is also an active topic. Depending on your background and the role we choose for you, your main responsibilities would involve device fabrication and process integration, device design and characterization, and/or device applications.

You will interact and collaborate with different staff members of VTT and with VTT‘s collaborators and customers. Your work will be, especially, linked to international projects and initiatives, like for example, Quantum Technologies Flagship or Graphene Flagship or other European level integrated actions. You may also get involved in the preparation and management of projects of your substance expertise.

We expect you to have

We expect you to have experience in the fields of micro, nano and/or quantum devices. You should have a PhD or MSc degree in physics or engineering (or related field). We expect you to have hands-on experience in cleanroom work, process integration, component design, and/or device characterization.

Experience in at least one of the following technologies is considered to be a relevant asset:

  • Superconductive devices
  • Photo/radiation detectors
  • CMOS or similar FET devices/systems including 2D material based devices
  • Quantum technologies

The following experience is not mandatory but valuable asset:

  • Experience from working in/with the industry
  • Project management experience

As a person you are

You are a team player with true ambition and passion for technology and research work. You take initiatives and responsibilities and have good interaction skills. You are able to combine theory with practise in a solution-oriented manner. You have good cooperation and networking skills and fluent written and oral communication in English.

We offer a creative and international working environment with highly trained colleagues and state-of-the-art research infrastructures. At VTT you can also have flexible working hours, good personal development prospects and the benefits of a large employer. With us, you will be building bridges from basic and applied research to the commercial exploitation.
