Your research will be part of Coherent security research programme, and you will concentrate on emergency first response and civil protection. You will apply for funding for research, development and innovation (RDI) projects and lead the projects, conduct research and publish, and supervise theses of Laurea students.
You will focus on emergency first response and civil protection in the internal and external security nexus. The emphasis is on research, development and innovation of civilian security issues together with practitioners, industry, academia and NGO actors at national and EU level. The research and project topics require knowledge of existing and future tools and services used, risk management concepts, development of concept of operations (e.g. evaluation and standardization practices), and ethical and societal impact assessments.
Your tasks require collaboration with national and international partners, knowledge of the development needs of the European civil protection and emergency first response authorities in their operating environment as well as linked European legislation and security systems and networks. Cooperation between different, cross-sectoral actors in crisis and emergency situations is essential, and the society needs to take advantage of the new opportunities offered by modern technology and new concepts. Your work will benefit from the networks and cooperation with Finnish and international partners already established by Laurea University of Applied Sciences and your contribution to the networks is a strong point.
