We are now looking for a Researcher to Pulp R&D team in Lappeenranta, Finland.

UPM Research and Development plays an important role in creating business opportunities in the new forest industry. We create value from renewable and recyclable materials by combining expertise and technologies within fiber based, energy-related and engineered materials businesses. In the new forest industry, we reshape markets through cost leadership, change readiness and leading innovation.

In Pulp R&D team, we support Pulp business across all the value chain, from raw material development and optimization to pulp products quality follow-up and technical customer service support. We work continuously to help developing current operations and products while creating the new future of the business.

What you’ll do

  • You will join an experienced team working in Lappeenranta and collaborate with a wide network of experts across R&D organization and UPM Pulp SBU
  • You will work in projects involving UPM Pulp mills’ process and product development
  • You will participate in long-term development programs that look into the future of the industry

Who you are

  • You have an university degree in Science or Engineering (or in a relevant other discipline) and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • You have excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of pulping technology. Previous practical work experience in Pulp Mills is regarded as an asset
  • You have the ability to work both independently and in teams, multi-task, solve problems and manage your time effectively when completing assignments
  • You are proactive, customer-oriented, eager to learn and collaborate with production teams at the mills as well as with other research teams
  • You have the capability to build and utilize global professional networks
  • You are fluent in English
