Research Scientist for VTT ProperTune multiscale materials modelling

We are looking for a high-level expert in finite element modelling and materials engineering of metals. With us, you will be responsible for the development of new modelling tools as well as solving challenging industrial multiscale materials modeling cases. The main areas of responsibility are microstructural finite element analyses of metallic materials and imaging based mesoscale analysis of composite materials. The suitable candidate has proven experience in solving complex modeling and simulation tasks.

We expect you to have

We expect you to have university degree, MSc. or preferentially DSc. Tech., with at least 5 years of experience in demanding simulation tasks, hopefully also from industrial R&D cases.

You have knowledge and background in at least some of the following topics:

  • Solid mechanics / engineering materials
  • Programming (especially Python and/or C/C++), common scripting languages like Matlab etc.
  • UNIX like operating and HPC systems
  • Mathematics and numerical methods for partial differential equations, especially finite element methods for highly nonlinear problems
