We are now looking for a

Research Data Advisor to join Research Services

Your main responsibilities include helping Aalto’s researchers in managing research data, raising awareness on the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles of research data, and supporting Aalto in fulfilling the open science requirements set up by Aalto’s strategy, Ministry of Education and Culture and other funders.

You will work closely with researchers from different Aalto schools and with other teams offering services for research and researchers. The goal of your work is to collaborate with different stakeholders in managing research data better, and participate in developing processes and services for the whole university. For example, the researchers will receive your help in:

  • Choosing suitable services, e.g. secure data storage or repository
  • Good data management practices
  • Increasing the impact of research via FAIR data and data sharing
  • Any other data questions

Working with us, you will be involved in emphasizing the importance of research data, implementing FAIR principles, and managing and opening data. You will contribute to a cultural change in research data management in a disciplinary manner. The job is really about inspiring the research community and improving day-to-day practices. You will be working together with skilled and experienced colleagues from various disciplines all over the university.

In order to succeed in this job, we expect you to have:

  • Understanding and practical experience on data driven research process
  • Prior experience or interest in learning about research data management and open data
  • Excellent information technology skills
  • Courage to collaborate, communicate and network with different stakeholders within and outside of Aalto University
  • Willingness to prepare training material and deliver various training events
  • Solution oriented, service-minded team player attitude combined with dynamic style of working
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal command of English, Finnish skills are an advantage
  • Master or PhD degree. Background in data-sciences or computational sciences is an advantage.

You report to Anne Sunikka, Head of Open Science and ACRIS.
