Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences has been breaking new ground by renewing its ways of working and activities related to learning, research & development, and commercial activities.

We are now looking for
RESEARCH AREA DIRECTOR
to lead research, development and innovation activities in our Service Business Development and Design research area. Ideally, you could start in this position as of August 1, 2022, but the starting date is negotiable.

Haaga-Helia's research activities have picked up speed and volume in the past year and a half, and we have ambitious goals in terms of volumes, quality, networks, internationalization, and impact. We are a member in a European University alliance, Ulysseus, which brings an added international flavor to all our activities.

As Research Area Director, you are leading a team of experts, whose RDI focus is on developing service-oriented industries with a specific eye on service experience, service concepts and design, and multi-channel services - including virtual, online, and digital in general. Typically our experts collaborate in the areas of travel, tourism, hospitality, sport, recreation, wellness and retail.

In Haaga-Helia, teams work seamlessly across organizational boundaries, and you are in an important role in further developing our ways of collaborating (both internally and with external stakeholders) jointly with the team of research area directors. You will be a member of the RDI leadership team.

What we'd like to see in you:

• a doctoral/licentiate degree
• a good understanding of RDI activity, and funding instruments
• experience from leading RDI projects and networks
• ability to fluently interact in Finnish and English
• good people skills.

We also need you to be skilled in work community collaboration and communication. We appreciate a positive outlook, visionary thinking, and good execution capability. Basically, you'll need to reach high to see the future, yet keep your feet firmly on the ground, and take a step at a time towards that future.
