We are now looking for a Real Estate Counsel to join our UPM Legal Functions team in Helsinki - other UPM locations in Finland can be considered.

What you’ll do

In this role you will be responsible for UPM’s real estate related legal matters globally. You will be handling both day-to-day legal tasks relating to real estate, as well as actively participate in innovating, developing, and implementing group-wide real estate related legal processes and practices that ally with the current and long-term business objectives.

Your main tasks will include being a key-player in UPM’s real estate practise, providing versatile advice in e.g., drafting and negotiating lease agreements, participating in real estate transactions and real estate development processes. In this role you will also have an integral role to develop UPM’s group-wide practises and processes when it comes to real estate related legal work.

Who you are

You have a Master’s degree in law and approximately 7+ years of legal work experience, ideally at a law firm or as an in-house counsel dealing with international real estate related matters. You are business-minded, flexible, and able to work both independently and as a team member on a range of assignments in a cross-cultural environment. You have excellent communication skills and you are fluent in written and spoken English. You are solution-oriented and highly motivated and enjoy working in a constantly changing and developing business.

UPM Legal has a desire to build imbedded legal processes throughout its operations and integrate UPM Legal’s processes and policies into business and function operations seamlessly and in a business-oriented manner. Thus, we are looking for a Real Estate Counsel who has capabilities and potential in participating and growing into such way of working and the ability to operate smoothly in cooperation with the business and other stakeholders in a solution-oriented manner.

Proven track record in the field of real estate related legal issues, such as lease agreements, real estate transactions and real estate development processes is considered an asset. You have also experience and ability to develop legal processes and give practical, spot-on advice to stakeholders.
