R&D Manager, Diagnostics LCMS V&V

Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently recruiting for a R&D Manager, Diagnostics LCMS Verification and Validation to our Clinical Diagnostics System (CDS) R&D Diagnostics team in Vantaa to work with the Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer diagnostic methods.

As a R&D Manager LCMS V&V you will have a key role in executing verification and validation activities of new assay projects on our Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer platform and lead a team of R&D Scientists, Testing Engineers and R&D Laboratory Technicians.

We are looking for an individual, who has excellent leadership skills and has a strong knowledge and working experience of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) or similar regulative environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and participating Cascadion assay verification and validation activities in a way that aligns with regulatory and CDS business strategy.
  • Ensuring on-schedule and on-specification delivery of assay projects together with project management.
  • Lead the team of approximately 10 R&D Scientists, Testing Engineers and R&D Laboratory Technicians.
  • Collaboration with local Quality and Regulatory Compliance teams to ensure compliance of the products with CE-IVD, FDA and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Comply with relevant GLP requirements and Quality Systems Requirements including relevant SOPs and Protocols.
  • Interaction and communication with other CDS departments and outside parties as needed


  • Graduated (University or University of Applied Sciences) in chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience and skills
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge about CE-IVD, FDA requirements or equivalent
  • Previous experience in CE-IVD Device projects, especially verification and validation of methods
  • Previous experience with quantitative LC-MSMS technology
  • Excellent time-management, planning and organization skills to handle and efficiently manage high workload and meet timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Fluent spoken and written Finnish and English
