Metsä Group has recently decided to broaden its R&D activities by founding a group-level R&D function with the goal to help and activate the development of its current businesses. This new function, named ‘Group R&D’, was set up inside Metsä Spring Ltd, the innovation company of Metsä Group. Metsä Spring was established about three years ago and it has, to date, been focusing on development of new businesses, essentially on implementing investments into startup companies and own demonstration projects. Examples of the latter include our textile fibre and 3D fibre product development projects. In this role, Metsä Spring is hereby starting to strengthen the Group R&D team and is, therefore, now looking for a R&D Specialist.
What is your role in the future of Metsä?

You will also support the Corporate Venturing activity of Metsä Spring as a technology expert.
Your tasks will include participating in collaboration and innovation activities inside Metsä Group and supporting Metsä Group’s business areas by participating and providing expertise in joint R&D projects. You will lead small projects or subprojects that involve external partners and public R&D support. You will get to dig into science & technology in selected areas, interpreting research results and developing them into business concepts. In addition, you will participate in monitoring closely the innovation landscape related to the Metsä Group’s areas of operation and assessing startup investment opportunities as a part of the Metsä Spring team. You will be networking with Finnish and foreign universities, RTOs, technology and service providers, startups and major companies in our innovation ecosystem.
