R&D Director, Pulp and Paper Automation and Digitalization – SMART Solutions

As the R&D Director you will have a key role in shaping how we develop solutions with outstanding, measurable customer value and quality to our customers. 

We are looking for an experienced professional, someone with a proven track record in leading research and development, a good understanding of automation and digitalization in pulp and paper industry, to develop and establish leading practices, and to steer research and development of the SMART solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Develop further research and development standards for ANDRITZ Automation and Digitalization (PP-AD)  SMART Solutions in accordance with ANDRITZ standards, including implementation and optimization of the SMART solution management model, ensuring a structured and efficient process for new solution development from ideation to market launch. 

• Lead a team of experts to ensure cohesive collaboration and effective execution of the SMART solutions research and development. 

• Collaborate with Pulp and Paper industry vertical portfolio management team to define and execute a comprehensive solutions strategy aligned with the PP-AD's goals, market trends, and customer expectations with measurable customer benefits with all solutions. 

• Conduct gate reviews at critical stages of solution development, assessing project viability, resource allocation, and alignment with strategic objectives. 

• Provide strong growth and change leadership in an organization with a global matrix structure. Motivate, train and have the teams (direct and indirect) to move in the same direction. 

• Foster a culture of innovation within the R&D team, encouraging creativity and exploration of new technologies and methodologies. 

• Nurture a high-performing team by providing leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the R&D team. 

We are looking for candidates with the following experience & expertise: 

• 5-10 years of relevant working experience with Pulp and Paper or Mining Automation and Digital Solutions 

• Proven record of leading and growing automation and digital solutions research and development at a global level 

• Strong experience and expertise in automation and digitalization research and development practices globally 

• Background of successfully navigating in a global matrix organization 

And following technical skills (knowledge): 

• Automation and digital research and development principles 

• Knowledge of customer processes and needs for Automation and Digital Solutions 

• Automation and Digitalization solution knowledge 

• Finance and controlling knowledge 

• Machinery/engineering principles 

• ANDRITZ IT Tools 

• Language skills excellent written and spoken English

The location of the job can be in any of the ANDRITZ Oy centers of excellence in Finland: Helsinki, Kotka, Lahti, Savonlinna, Lappeenranta, Tampere or Varkaus.
