Your role

We are looking for a skilled Quantitative Developer or Energy Systems Expert (senior or junior) for power plant/energy systems optimization to join our Data, analytics & machine intelligence team. Data, analytics & machine intelligence team is part of Business Technology unit supporting Fortum businesses around power plant optimization, simulations and maintenance management fields.

In this role you will be responsible for the design and development, as well as maintaining the system optimization solutions. In the beginning you will familiarize yourself to various models and will have a unique possibility to be involved in developing energy system models for a new era. You will work in close co-operation with other team members, in both the Business Technology as well as in business units. In future you may broaden your expertise area to various other modelling and/or machine learning methods, and participate in different roles in power plant / energy system optimization and analysis projects. Your role will be determined in details based on your experience.

Your qualifications

To succeed and thrive in this position we expect you to have a university-level education in a relevant field, as well as a proven track record of software development and solving complex data-driven problems. You have a deep understanding of analytics and problem-solving methods. You are experienced with mathematical methods and models (e.g. statistics, optimization, time series forecasting, machine learning) as well as applying mathematical models with code (e.g. Matlab, R, LP modelling languages GAMS). Experience in agile methodologies, automation systems and power plant processes will be considered as an advantage. You are proactive and goal-oriented, and you have the ability to work under pressure. Equally important are your positive and curious mindset and your willingness to deepen your skills within both the energy business and in applied mathematics. You are a natural team player who contributes to a great team spirit with excellent communicative and collaborative skills. We expect you to be fluent both in written and verbal English.
