Work position and duration: Project manager, 01 November 2018 – 31 October 2021 (36 months)
Faculty of Education is partner in Kolarctic CBC programme project KO2071 Development of common approaches to involvement youth into science and technical sphere (Be Tech!). Lead partner of the project is Municipality of Alta, Norway. The other partners are UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Murmansk Arctic State University, Limited liability company Education, innovation, science and research union, "Socium+" (Russia), and Association of Arctic projects contractors, "Murmanshelf" (Russia). Faculty of Education is contributing to the project with its expertise especially in the sphere of teacher training, with the interest to enhance young peoples’ motivation to study science and technology by the new approaches developed within this project. The project being successful, there are good prospects young peoples’ science based and technological skills in vocational training and later in their working life will be better than before. In long-term this also would facilitate the sustainable economic development of their original living region. The work position is placed in the research unit Values, Ideologies and Social Contexts of Education at the Faculty of Education.
In addition to daily administration of project activities, project reporting, evaluation and auditing,the most important duties in the position are: working according to the timelines of project Action plan and Roles of the partners tables, arranging joint seminars for teachers, taking part in development and arranging of pilot events for school pupils, and working in close collaboration with teacher trainers and students at Faculty of Education, teacher training school teachers and pupils. The work is conducted in close collaboration with part-time project researcher at Faculty of Oulu, other KO2071 project partners, and with the support of the Kolarctic CBC Managing Authority, Regional Council of Lapland, Rovaniemi.
Basic selection criteria: Good organizational skills together with experience in targeted project work and especially project management, preferably in international level. Higher educational career in sciences and technology, preferably doctoral degree. Good knowledge in work of educators in various educational and teaching environments, especially in sciences and technology. Finnish language skills and good skills in English are required. Good modern IT skills are required. Russian language skills are advantage but not as a requirement for the position. Good knowledge about distinctive features of Kolarctic CBC programme area is advantage but not as a requirement for the position.
The salary will be based on the levels 8–9 of the demand level chart for other staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 46.3 % of the job-specific component).
