We are looking for a data-oriented product owner to lead the platform development work of data team as a part of the bigger project that is aiming to renew and modernize non-life insurance IT-platform. The team is responsible for development of various data related solutions to build the future non-life insurance platform for OP.
About the role
You are responsible for the vision and direction of the data team outlining both short-term and long-term roadmap for the data area. As a product owner, you are breaking down the vision into objectives and smaller actionable items in the backlog. Together with the team, you are prioritizing the backlog, planning and running development sprints. As a product owner you are responsible for being the voice of the customer understanding the costs and benefits involved as you make the final call on the priorities.
You will work as a part of the very professional team consisting of specialists, analysts, developers and test engineers. In addition, you as a product owner represent the team to the outside world making sure the progress of the team is transparent and the collaboration is seamless. You are working closely with the other development teams inside and even outside the project, business owners, tech leads and architects. To name a few. Data is very wide area and you as a data product owner need to have desire to tackle data related challenges in different fields of non-life insurance domain (billing, policy, claims).
Your day-to-day routines consist of refinement of the backlog, dependency management, removing obstacles, approving team deliverables and resolving issues coming out of retros.
What you need to succeed
• You are IT and data oriented product person with some experience on banking or insurance business.
• You have very good communications and interpersonal skills inside and outside the team.
• You know how to work with highly skillful software professionals and have ability to get people to understand very complicated technical matters.
• You can communicate the bigger picture, but also go into specifics and write very specific descriptions (e.g., epics, features or user stories) if necessary.
• You are solution oriented and capable of finding creative ways of solving complex problems together with the team. You can prioritize backlog and make though calls.
• Guidewire Insurance Suite, Datahub, Jira and Confluence skills are very welcome, but not required.
• Even if you are unfamiliar with all our used technologies, you are enthusiastic about learning and quick to acquire new skills.
• You speak and write in English and if you can manage with Finnish, it’s a plus.
