Product Manager

Volare is looking for a Product manager to join the innovative and driven team with a mission to change the food industry. 

Volare is a biotechnology company creating radically sustainable protein and lipids from food industry side streams. Our products are used as ingredients in the feed and pet food industry for now, but in the future there are several other application fields available too. By combining the natural powers of insects and cutting-edge technology Volare is radically reducing the environmental burden of the food chain.

We are a driven, professional and diverse team and we value learning, caring for each other and the planet, as well as our purpose to change the food chain for the better. We already have a demonstration plant running at full capacity at Hyvinkää, Finland, and deliver products to customers for testing and limited product launches. We will start building a first-of-its-kind industrial scale insect rearing and processing facility to the Nordics in 2023.

To succeed we need to be able to understand our customers’ needs in technical terms and create products that satisfy and supersede their wishes. We are now looking for a product manager to run our product manufacturing as well as lead product development.

As the Product Manager you ensure that our product manufacturing runs smoothly, our products are of high quality and meet the customers’ requirements.

You will be responsible for

• Manufacturing Volare products
• Optimization and development of products based on production efficiency, customer needs and feedback
• Supporting our customers with the use of our products in their applications
• Ensuring safe, organized, and efficient operations in post-processing
• Product storage and packaging development and management
• Participating in the planning and design of the industrial scale plant on your own expertise areas

• Strong background and understanding of producing safe, high-quality food and/or feed products in industrial settings
• Deep understanding of product development in the food and/or feed industry
• Degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field
• Ability and curiosity to understand and implement multiple requirements from different stakeholders – ability to discuss with customers on their technical needs and feedback on our products
• Great hands-on problem solving and communications skills
• Willingness to work in a start-up environment and to build a new company together with the team
