The Embassy of Denmark in Helsinki is hiring a locally employed Political Adviser for a position in the political- and economic department that administrates a wide range of tasks and responsibilities including public diplomacy and communication. The embassy employs two posted employees, seven locally employed assistants, one Finnish intern and two Danish interns.

The embassy handles and carries out Denmark’s interests within the political, economic, trade, cultural and consular areas in Finland.

Job description:

  • Report on and analyse Finnish foreign- and EU-policies
  • Promote trade/economic diplomacy and export
  • General responsibility of the embassy’s public diplomacy including press- and cultural endeavours
  • Assisting consular and citizen services

Competencies:

  • Extensive acquaintance with European politics and European fiscal policies
  • Good analytical skills and flair for politics
  • Experience with economic diplomacy and export promotion
  • Proficiency in Danish is advantageous (not required) while a strong command of Finnish and English is obligatory

Personal and interpersonal skills

  • Great communication skills
  • Responsible, committed and willing to engage in cross-sector cooperation
  • Cheerful and have flair for networking and stakeholder management
  • Impeccable judgement and excellent sense of propriety

     

Salary and place of work: Your place of work is the Embassy of Denmark in Helsinki. Pay and conditions for employment is based on the embassy’s employment agreement for locally employed staff that is based primarily on the Finnish labour market rules and conditions. You are employed with 37,5 working hours per week, however flexible hours must be expected.

Start of employment: 1 September 2018.
