Phase1 is Orion's a paid trainee program for university and university of applied sciences students. During the summer you get inspiring tasks and get to know other trainees on events. You have also a possibility to network with other orionees through mentoring.
Description of position
We are looking for a summer trainee to support our group by developing scripts and software tools. Our scientific work includes handling and processing data and in many cases there is no commercial software available. The group’s students and scientists have made Excel VBA and python scripts for some applications that can transform instrument data output, analyse and plot results. Scripts and software tools could benefit in many of our workflows that are still manual from simple tasks to analysis of large and complex datasets. As a summer trainee you will work closely with our scientists and identify points where scripts and software tools can be developed and help implement these in our workflows.
You do not necessarily need Finnish for this task. The summer job is located in Turku and it will begin in May or June and last for 3-4 months.
Description of unit
The Protein and Antibody Engineering unit is part of Orion's R&D organization and responsible for bringing forward our antibody projects from the initial idea to the selection of a candidate molecule for clinical development as well as supporting all parts of Orion R&D with our expertise within protein production, engineering, and characterization.

To succeed in this job we expect you to have a background in computer science, mathematics, physics, or other field with solid experience in computer programming. Knowledge or interest in protein chemistry, laboratory work, or pharmaceutical science is a plus.
