Phase1, New Therapeutic Modalities Trainee

Description of the position

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual with a strong background in mammalian cell culture techniques to join our team in Turku. Phase1 trainee program is an excellent opportunity to put your technical & analytical skills to work in an industry setting. The work is scheduled to start in May-June and lasts 3-4 months.

The responsibilities:

• Plan and perform experiments under the supervision of senior scientists


• Culture different types of human and rodent cell lines


• Isolate & culture human and rodent lymphocytes


• Perform functional, imaging-based and immunoassays


• Analyze data and communicate conclusions to the team


• Work as a part of a collaborative and flexible team

Description of the unit

New Targets & Therapeutics team belongs to the Discovery Sciences Department in the R&D organization. New Targets & Therapeutics team focuses on identifying novel therapeutic targets and treatments for patients with neurological diseases and exploring new treatment modalities for oncology and CNS (Central Nervous System) indications.

We will provide you with opportunities to learn and challenge yourself with interesting tasks. Phase 1 trainees will get a comprehensive picture of all of Orion's activities during common events dedicated to all Phase 1 trainees and during the mentoring program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree completed and master's degree studies ongoing or close to graduation with a major in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines


• Strong experience with mammalian cell culture techniques is necessary, previous experience with lentivirus work is a plus


• Scientific attitude and curiosity to learn new things


• Proven ability to work independently and in a team


• Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
