Operations Manager, Molecular Biology for Food Protection

How will you make an impact?

In this position you would be working for a growing business on molecular diagnostics for Food Protection, which makes a difference in the world and you would develop our Vantaa Operations as a center of excellence for food protection molecular products.

As an Operations Manager you are responsible for manufacturing and customer delivery capability in Vantaa Operations for the Food Protection portfolio of Microbiology Division. The portfolio includes for example SureTect, RapidFinder and PathoProof products. You will lead the manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and production planning, and drive the supply capability with other Operations teams: Sourcing, Customer Service and Warehouse. In this role you will report to Senior Operations Director who is based in our Vantaa site and with a dotted-line reporting to Operations Director in Microbiology Division based in UK.

We are looking for an experienced operation’s professional with molecular biology/chemistry/natural sciences knowledge and combined with strong leadership skills.

What will you do?

  • Ensure the supply capability for Microbiology division’s Food Protection products to meet the customer delivery requirements, measured by on-time-delivery and back orders. Drive needed process improvements and actions with other operations teams working for the same value stream to meet customer expectation for the supply.
  • Lead manufacturing, quality control, manufacturing engineering & production planning to meet and exceed operational goals in safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity.
  • Develop capacity plans and process improvement initiatives and ensure resources to meet customer demand.
  • Drive root cause / corrective action culture, cost reduction initiatives, and process flow and first pass yield improvement.
  • Lead and promote lean initiatives for the value stream.
  • Define and implement manufacturing processes which result in products meeting all regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Support and participate with Quality, R&D and Engineering on new product introductions.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in molecular biology or chemistry. Additionally production technology, operations and/or supply chain degree is valued.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in manufacturing management or engineering, supply chain management or operations responsibility in R&D projects
  • Leadership experience and excellent leadership skills.
  • Fluent, clear and concise communication skills in spoken and written Finnish and English
  • Proven track record in leading and implementing continuous improvement and/or lean activities
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent co-operation skills and capability to lead and get results in an international, multi-site environment with matrix organization structures
  • Results orientation and a profitability mindset along with the ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced environment.
